The age, as well as the environment, has a significant influence on the rate of fertilisation and the development of pregnancy. The optimal age is up to the age of 35. With the advancement of one’s age, the chances of fertilisation are reduced and after the age of 40 they are minimal.
- Unsuccessful stimulation is also caused by the weak ovarian response to applied hormonal therapy
- There is a possibility of a premature maturing of the egg cell
- Existence of an ‘empty egg cell’ which means that there is no egg cell in the egg membrane
- Inability of sperm to penetrate the egg cell
- Mucous membrane of the uterus is insufficiently and inadequately prepared for embryo attachment
