Pregnancy
Pregnancy is a physiological state that occurs when the male and female fertility cells unite. Normal gestation period is 280 days or 40 weeks or 10 lunar or nine usual months. Due to possible complications every pregnancy must be under observation from the beginning to the end.
Diagnostic procedures:
- Gynaecological examination to establish pregnancy
- Ultra-sound examination to confirm pregnancy
- Blood group and Rh factor
- Blood test
- Urine test
- Blood pressure check up
- Weight control
- Blood sugar levels
- It is necessary to control the pregnancy by gynaecological examination at least once a month and twice a month at the end of the pregnancy
- Where there is a suspicion of genetic – hereditary disorders and in order to find out the baby’s gender – a peace of the gestational sac is taken for testing at 8 – 10 weeks into the pregnancy
- Ultra-sound examination to establish any irregularities in the development of the foetus. In high risk pregnancies ultra-sound is used to monitor the blood flow in the foetus and placenta
